Who can order tests?
Parents or legal guardians of homeschooled children can order from FLO. On occasion, we work with small private schools or with homeschool support groups, as long as the order is accompanied by the parent/guardian’s written consent.
What tests does FLO offer?
FLO offers the California Achievement Test, Fifth Edition (CAT/5 - 1992)and the Basic Achievement Skills Inventory (BASI - 2002/2003). These are standardized, nationally-normed tests. Research specific state or local requirements to determine whether a particular test is acceptable.
Timing: Tests are divided into sections that are timed. The CAT requires from 1 hour and 28 minutes to 5 hours and 16 minutes depending on the grade. Higher grade levels need more time than the lower grades. The procedure should be spread over a 2-3 day period and should include several brief breaks.The BASI takes approximately 2 hours to administer.
Subjects: The CAT includes various forms of vocabulary, reading comprehension, language, math, science, and social studies. CAT grades 4 and higher also contain study skills section. The BASI covers reading, spelling, language arts, and math.

Can I order in advance for a later ship date?
You may order in advance and request tests to be shipped at a later date. We especially recommend this if you wish to test from March through June, when certain tests might not be available for more than 2-5 weeks, due to high demand and short supply. We recommend that you place orders at least 4-6 weeks before the desired testing week. Billing information will be processed immediately in order to reserve the appropriate shipping date.

Note: Please mail orders to be paid by Check or Money Order rather than phoning them in. Processing will not begin until payment is received.
How long will it take to receive my order?
During the busy testing season from March through June, processing times of 2-5 weeks are common. (Certain grades may be in high demand and short supply.) For this reason, we encourage parents to order in advance if testing during this time. Advance orders may be placed for shipment later, if desired. Place orders at least 4-6 weeks before the desired testing week. Billing information will be processed immediately in order to reserve the appropriate shipping date.
If testing in the fall or winter months, orders can usually be shipped within a few days or placed in advance for a later shipping date. Whenever possible, we recommend testing at a time other than our peak season. This allows us to give you prompt service and diminishes the chance for delays.
What about group orders for families or other groups ordering together?
We try to accommodate group orders whenever possible. This is sometimes difficult to arrange during peak testing months – March through June. Please call our office at 800-405-8378 and request a Group Order Form to facilitate the process.
