Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Who can order tests?
Parents or legal guardians of homeschooled children can order from FLO. On occasion, we work with small private schools or with homeschool support groups, as long as the order is accompanied by the parent/guardians written consent.
What tests does FLO offer?
FLO offers the California Achievement Test, Fifth Edition (CAT/5 - 1992), the CAT Survey (CS 1992), the TerraNova 1st Edition (T 1996), the Basic Achievement Skills Inventory (BASI - 2002/2003), and the TerraNova, 2nd Edition (TN 2005). These are standardized, nationally-normed tests. Please research specific state or local requirements to determine whether a particular test is acceptable, by visiting www.hslda.org. This information can also be found on the state education department website in some states.
Please see our Test Comparison Chart to compare the different tests we offer.

- The BASI takes approximately 2 2 ½ hours to administer.
The testing process should be spread over a 2-3 day period and should include several brief breaks.

Can I order in advance for a later ship date?
You may order in advance and request tests to be shipped at a later date. We especially recommend this if you wish to test from March through June, when certain tests might not be available for more than 2-5 weeks, due to high demand and short supply. We recommend that you place orders at least 4-6 weeks before the desired testing week. Billing information will be processed immediately in order to reserve the appropriate shipping date.
What forms of payment does FLO accept?
Online or Phone: MasterCard, VISA, Discover
Mail: MasterCard, VISA, Discover, Check, Money Order
Note: Please mail orders to be paid by Check or Money Order rather than phoning them in. Processing will not begin until payment is received.
How long will it take to receive my order?
During the busy testing season from March through June, processing times of 2-5 weeks are common. (Certain grades may be in high demand and short supply.) For this reason, we encourage parents to order in advance if testing during this time. Advance orders may be placed for shipment later, if desired. Place orders at least 4-6 weeks before the desired testing week. Billing information will be processed immediately in order to reserve the appropriate shipping date.
If testing in the fall or winter months, orders can usually be shipped within a few days or placed in advance for a later shipping date. Whenever possible, we recommend testing at a time other than our peak season. This allows us to give you prompt service and diminishes the chance for delays.
What about group orders for families or other groups ordering together?
We try to accommodate group orders whenever possible. This is sometimes difficult to arrange during peak testing months March through June. Please visit our Resources page and print off a Group Order From. All Group Orders must be received in writing. You can mail them to us or e-mail them to firstname.lastname@example.org. They cannot be placed by phone or on our website. For the 2017 testing season groups with 10+ students will receive a $3.00 discount per test.
