The Basic Achievement Skills Inventory (BASI) is a versatile, norm-referenced achievement test used to measure math, reading, spelling, and language skills. It was normed during the 2002-2003 school year and serves as a current, valid, and reliable assessment tool. The test was standardized on a sample of more than 4,000 students in grades 3-12 and college matched to the 2000 U.S. Census demographic information.
The BASI consists of 6 timed subtests:
Vocabulary (10 minutes)
Spelling (10 minutes)
Language Mechanics (10 minutes)
Reading Comprehension (30 minutes)
Math Computation (20 minutes)
Math Application (35 minutes)
Each subtest can be administered independently or in any combination. The BASI is organized into 4 grade-specific levels:
Level 1 for grades 3-4
Level 2 for grades 5-6
Level 3 for grades 7-8
Level 4 for grades 9-12

FLO's testing and assessment services are available only to homeschooling parents. Furthermore, all tests and testing materials remain the property of Family Learning Organization and must be returned to FLO for processing within 2 weeks of receipt. By ordering tests or assessments from FLO you certify that you are a homeschooling parent and that you agree to return all testing materials to FLO within two weeks of receipt. You also understand that failure to return materials will result in a fee of $50 per book. Arrangements for an extension may be made by phoning FLO's office.
